Connemara RFC are saddened at the recent death of retired local sergeant Sean Kelly.

Sean always supported the club, for whom his grandson plays at underage level.

He was a regular sponsor of our annual AM-AM Golf tournament.

The club offers it’s sincere condolences to his wife, Maureen, and family.

Alan Pryce, last season’s captain of Connemara RFC, and Sinead O’Sullivan, assistant secretary of the club, announced their engagement on Friday last.

Sinead is the sister of the PRO, John O’Sullivan, and daughter of the President, Matt O’Sullivan.

The Connemara pitch, which has gotten some wear & tear over the last few seasons has undergone a recent facelift, thanks to Pitch Committee Chairman, Martin Little & his helpers.

Martin, with Bernard Keaney, John Sheridan, John Frances Faherty & Tommy Coyne, were volunteers on the project to revitalize the project.

PJ Heffernan organized the painting of the goalposts and flagpoles.

Thankfully, due to the hard work of the aforementioned club members, the pitch is close to returning to it’s former glory.

Congratulations to Owen Hayes and Catherine Pryce on the birth of their first child, a son, Louis.

A large number of family and friends attended the Christening on Sunday last in St. Joseph’s Church, Clifden and the reception afterwards in Mannion’s Bar, Clifden.

The sudden and untimely death of Ian Burns was a huge shock to his many friends at Connemara RFC.

The former Irish international was a very generous member of our club and was a guest at our 4oth Birthday party before Christmas, alongside former international Fergus Slatterey.

Ian was always very interested in the affairs of our club and was delighted to know that our own Oisin Heffernan was capped at both Irish Schools and U2o level.

There will be a church service in memory of Ian in the Church of Ireland, Clifden, on Friday the 18th of September at 20:00.

His family and friends will attend, as well as members of our own club. Afterwards, there will be a get together in the Station House Hotel.

The club wishes Ian’s mother, his wife, Jackie, and family and friends our heartfelt condolences.

Jarlath O’Neill of Ballyconneely won nine hundred Euro at the Jokers Wild Competition at the Rugby Club’s weekly lotto on Sunday Night.

Well done, Jarlath.
