Ladies Rugby Report

November 4th, 2013

Unfortunately, due to a lack of interest among the young ladies of the Connemara region, two of Connemara’s most promising Ladies players have had to move to pastures new to fulfill their potential.

Indeed, both¬†Kaetlin Wallace and Darwyn O’Halloran have enjoyed good starts with their new clubs Westport and Castlebar respectively.

Wallace’s good form has been rewarded with a call up to the Connacht U18 squad and O’Halloran has been on song with the boot for her club, Castlebar.

In a team that contains legendary Mayo Ladies Footballer Cora Staunton, O’Halloran’s Castlebar have been in imperious form and just last Sunday hammered NUIG 48-0 with O’Halloran boasting a 100% record with the boot, kicking seven goals from seven attempts.

To date, from thirty five kicks this season O’Halloran has been successful thirty two times.

It is encouraging to see that Connemara are producing quality players,  from both sexes.

U15’s Rugby Report

November 4th, 2013

Under the tutelage of John O’Halloran, Connemara’s U15’s have made an encouraging start to their season.

Indeed, after losing one of their two curtain raisers before the season proper, Connemara are two from two in their campaign with a comprehensive 58-5 victory over Corinthians and a hard fought 24-19 win over Galwegians.

The Young Blacks will look to extend their good start to the season when they travel to Monivea this coming Sunday. The game kicks off at one o’clock and any support would be greatly appreciated.

The U15’s good start to the season has been attributed to solid numbers at training, something which coach John O’Halloran is very happy with and hopes the players commitment can continue as the season progresses.
